Description
Ancient Egyptian Bronze Oxyrhincus ca. 730-30 B.C. Size 4 3/4 inches length. Cast bronze Nile carp wearing a horned sun disc crown with a rear suspension loop, and having a long sled type integral base. Red-brown weathered surface with scattered areas of blue-green patina. Some minor loss to the tips of both horns, otherwise intact. Provenance: NYC collection, ex. Curtis Katz collection, NYC., 1968-1969. NYC., to The Bactria Corp., NYC., 1970s, to Edward H. Merrin Gallery, NYC. 1970s.
