Description
A choice Yortan black-ware vessel from Anatolia, Early Bronze Age II, c. 2700 - 2400 BC, the round body resting on three tapered feet, the neck tall with flared mouth and four lug handles. The vessel is nicely incised with intersecting lines filled with lime or chalk for contrast. The rim with four holes to secure a lid, the four handles pierced likely for suspension. A very attractive example! H: 4 1/2 in (11.4 cm). Ex collection of Karl Jakob Muller, Germany, acquired 1950-1977.
