Description
A wonderful 17th Century English ivory cane. The elephant ivory early handle is 3 1/8" high and 1 2/3" at its thickest. Like its pique-decorated counter parts, it has a raised central ring and is pierced with round eyelets. This example lacks the silver pique decoration. There is a 2/3" punch-decorated silver collar with scalloped edges. The shaft is old malacca with lots of dings and digs from many, many years of wear. It terminates with a 2 1/2" worn down brass ferrule with an unusual saw-tooth edge. The overall length is 33 3/4" and the condition is very good with all the normal signs of it 300 + years of existence. It is ca 1690's and it is a marvelous antique example. Estimate: $2000-$3000.
