Description
This lot consists of a framed oil painting on canvas, done in the Post-Impressionist style of Paul Gauguin (French, 1849-1903). Image depicts a glimmering landscape, draped in lush sunlight. Steeped in imaginative color, as is much of Gauguin's work. A hand-painted inscription at lower left corner reads, "P. Gauguin". Overall unframed measurements approximately 16.5" x 10.75".
Paul Gauguin (French, 1849-1903) is recognized today for his influence on the French avant-garde, specifically with his groundbreaking use of color. Gauguin's visits to the Caribbean island of Martinique were formative to the artist.
