Net topliva, vse mertvo. Vezite toplivo, vsyo ozhivyot. [Without Fuel, Everything Looks Dead. Bring the Fuel, and Everything Will Spring Back to Life], a poster after a 1919 design by Nikolai Pomansky (1887-1935). GIZ, Moscow, 1920, 103.5 x 67.5 cm.
Nikolai Pomansky was an easel painter and graphic artist who studied art in Moscow under K. Korovin, and later studied for several years in Paris. He served in WWI as an ordinary soldier and chose the side of the Revolution during the Civil War. Afterwards, he worked as a posterist and book illustrator, while continuing to exhibit his paintings.
