Description
Yuniye proletarii sela i goroda, soyedinyaites'! [Young Urban and Village Proletarians, Unite!], a very early Communist Youth movement regional poster. Published by the Odessa branch of Vseizdat (the All-Ukrainian Publishing Trust, formed in 1919), Odessa, 1919, 57 x 41.5 cm.
Pre-1920 posters specifically aimed at the young generation are fairly scarce. Various Communist Youth organizations had merged to form the Russian Communist Youth Union (Komsomol) in 1918, but the organization lacked funds to launch a sustained propaganda campaign until late 1919, when it was formally recognized as the youth division of the Communist Party.
