Description
A group of 5 Roman bronze fibulae. The first a nice Roman bronze crossbow fibula, 4th Century AD, with nicely incised decoration and pointed terminals on the head and arms. L: 2 4/5 in (7.1cm). A pleasing example with original pin; The second a nice Roman bronze P-shaped bow fibula, 2nd - 3rd Century AD, the arched body decorated with three rows of incised geometric decoration, the bronze body well-preserved with a deep olive patina and the original iron coil and pin preserved as well. L: 2 3/8 in (6 cm). A real nice example of the type!; The third Roman bronze crossbow fibula, c. 3rd Century AD, with missing pin L: 2 1/8 in (5.3 cm); The fourth an arched Roman bronze fibula with pin, c. 2nd - 3rd Century AD, with decorated body and original pin L: 1 1/4 in (3.2 cm); And the fifth a Villanovan bronze fibula, c. 8th - 7th Century BC, with highly domed body and missing pin L: 1 3/4 in (4.4 cm). Ex Southern California private collection.
