Oceania, Melanesia, Solomon Islands, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. A collection of three wood, shell, and woven items. First, a crescent-shaped spoon with a shallow bowl, carved from very dark colored coconut wood. Second, a tightly woven bracelet made from light and dark fibers with a diamond and zigzag pattern on its surface. Third, a collection of three large shell money pieces tied together in reed-like fibers. Size of largest (basket): 2.8" W x 6" H (7.1 cm x 15.2 cm)
Provenance: private Hawaii, USA collection; ex-private Hurst collection, Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA

Condition
Spoon has small scratches on surface but is overall well preserved. The bracelet is in very nice condition. The shells have light wear commensurate with age and their reed-like wrapper has come unfolded in a few places but overall is in nice condition.
