after ABRAHAM BLOEMAERT (Dutch 1566-1651) AND JAN SAENREDAM (Dutch 1565-1607) A PAIR OF DUTCH NORTHERN MANNERIST STYLE PAINTINGS ON DOORS, 17TH/18TH CENTURY, oil on wood panel with engraved wrought iron strap hinges in the form of smoking cannon or musket barrels, the exterior of the doors is painted with two of the four evangelists, each in a tondo comprising, "Matthew with Angel" and "Mark with Lion", and the door interiors are painted with biblical scenes of the Garden of Eden temptation scene, after the 1604 engraving published by Jan Saenredam who printed Abraham Bloemaert series: The Story of Adam and Eve, and the obverse of the opposing door is an Italian style nativity. 19 1/4" x 20 1/4"
Condition
Some minor surface wear, door fragments with expected wear and losses, occasional in-painting, dust and soil, overall in good condition, wear commensurate with age.
