Jan Rijlaarsdam (Dutch, 1911-2007) 'Early Morning Storm: Paris' Oil on Canvas
Undated, signed lower left, titled on label verso, a somber, semi-abstracted cityscape rendered in a mixture of grayscale and earth-tones, in a black- and silver-tone wood frame, retaining Guildhall Galleries Ltd., Chicago, IL and House of Heydenryk Frame, New York, NY labels verso
Property from: a Private Collector, Lincolnshire, Illinois
Height: 19 1/2 inches, Width: 27 1/4 inches (sight)
Frame Size: 25 inches by 33 inches
Condition: Very Good, overall light wear, innermost portion of frame including angular face surrounding canvas having evidence of efflorescence throughout, painting blacklights extremely well with no noted signs of inpainting, occasionally having areas of glowing efflorescence, mostly concentrated in the upper left quadrant in small groups of 0.375-inch or smaller dots, visible in normal light as well which correspond directly to the verso of those areas, having slight fluorescence under backlight when examined, signature blacklights contemporaneous to the rest of the work, no other condition issues to artwork noted, with no evidence of lifting paint aside from a few, long, linear and clearly defined raised lines of thin impasto, consistent with artist style, no major scuffs, scratches or losses noted, light dirt accumulation, light wear to frame
