Orville Wright Signed Check to His Sister Katharine, Beautiful Framed Display
WRIGHT, Orville. Partially Printed Document Signed, “Orville Wright”, 1p, Dayton, being check number 528, drawn on The City National Bank and payable to Katharine Wright in the amount of $400. Punch cancellation “PAID / +6 11 20” at top center. Not examined out of frame, light show-through of Katharine Wright’s endorsement on verso. Beautifully matted and framed with a stylized image of Orville and Wilbur Wright, to an overall size 13.75" x 18.5" x 1". Fine condition.
Katharine Wright Haskell (1874-1929) was the younger sister of aviation pioneers Wilbur and Orville Wright, with whom she worked closely. She managed the bicycle shop, helped with flight operations and communications, and iterated ideas with her brothers. She was also a high school teacher and later, became an international celebrity when the whole family team went to Europe.
