Description
A carved wooden mask with encrusted surface , well worn attachment holes, tribal repair to chin and overall well handled surface patina. Such masks are sometimes danced funerals, the mask appears at the end of the series of funeral rites to signify the conclusion of the mourning period. The mask is used in a performance that helps people transition from a state of grief back into their daily routines. The mask has also been documented to be used during ceremonies related to initiation into the so’o secret society. The mask measures 9.25 x 7.25 inches.
