English Civil War Helmet and Breastplate

Item Details

Description

English Civil War/ Cromwellian period breastplate and helmet. Mid-17th century. Both seem to be steel. Helmet is a lobster-tail style helmet, no neck protector. Brim is complete, and nose guard holder is present. Some oxidation, pitting, and cracking of metal. 11" by 7" by 9 1/2". Some repairs present. Breastplate is in good condition, with some pitting/oxidation. Marked "RB 137". About 16" tall, 7" deep, about 14" wide. Pins and loop for connection of back plate and gorget present. Both objects show signs of age, cracks, and (in the case of the helmet) small holes.Keywords: Warfare, militaria, military, soldier, mantique, man cave, decor, decoration
