Description
Here’s one of the most popular, original handbills from the Carousel Ballroom series, finally appearing with CGC grading for just the second time in our auction! The famed Hells Angel / Artist - Gut, created this memorable 1968 Grateful Dead issue. This concert was held on January 17th, Ben Franklin’s Birthday, and was the grand opening for the 6 month long Carousel / Grateful Dead / Jefferson Airplane experiment. The Carousel Ballroom was a short-lived venture that was funded and managed by the Dead and Airplane. After they lost enough money and realized it was not their game, the space was taken over by Bill Graham and became the Fillmore West.
