Adventurous autographed letter from admiral Richard E Byrd and signed piece of insulation from base. Rear Admiral Robert Evelyn Byrd was well known for his naval service, serving in world war I and world war II, and his extensive exploration of Antarctica. The letter comes with the original envelope addressed to Mr. R. Arthur Fulton from R.E. Byrd. The letter reads: “Boston, Mass May 10, 1936 On this anniversary of our return from the south polar regions I want to express to you my deep and enduring appreciation of the assistance you rendered on our ?? Antarctic expedition which helped to make it possible for us to ?? more than twenty ?? a piece and map and take possession of thousands of square miles of new territory of the united states. Attached to this sheet is an autographed piece of insulation from the wall of the advanced meteorological base furthermost habitation ever occupied by man. Gratitude and friendship, Richard E Byrd Commander BAE II”.
