Description
To include six cups and twelve small plates or saucers of low fired 'Bandera ware' pottery, so called because it incorporates the red, green and white of the Mexican flag. Made in and around Tonala in the state of Jalisco. Normally red ground with cream and green decoration, this set has its typically loose, whimsical and varied decoration in green and red (and occasionally, blue) on a creamy white slip. Circa 1920s-30s. Cups: diameter. approx. 4 1/2", height: approx. 2 1/2". Small plates: approx. 6" diameter.
