Description
1871 1ed PT Barnum Circus Autobiography Struggles & Triumphs Jenny Lind RARE
Phineas Taylor Barnum is remembered primarily for the founding of the Barnum and Bailey Circus, but he was also a writer, politician, businessman and showman, most explicitly shown in the most recent film ‘The Greatest Showman’. This autobiographical work is Barnum’s account of his experiences, but as was known about Barnum, he often exaggerated or expounded on stories he told to further their entertainment value, which we can assume happens here in his autobiographical work often called “Dishonest truthfulness” (Reading).
This 1871 ‘author’s edition’ of Barnum’s autobiography was published under the title ‘Struggles and Triumphs’ and features 33 charming, full-page wood engravings.
