Description
Grand Tour style bronze double oil lamp, after the antique, the scrolling handle with foliate palmette motif, the lid with cherub and swan detail. 6.25” H x 9.5” diameter. Provenance: Removed from a 983 Park Avenue estate. Note: Wealthy Roman families used and displayed lamps and examples with multiple nozzles that burned more fuel was a display of social standing and financial success. The form of this is beautiful; there is a similar piece held by the National Archaeological Museum in Naples.
