Still Life signed M S Lee '86; Collectors Art, Inc. M.S. Lee was born in Korea in 1941. His artistic talent was recognized early, his work being exhibited during his school years and then in Hong Kong University where we sudied art. Later M.S. Lee moved to San Francisco to broaded his knowledge of techniques used in this country. It was during this period that he developed the unique style that we see in his paintings today. Using thin layers of paint and pastel colors Lee attains a remarkable war,th and delicacy in all his paintings. Flower petals are. most translucent and are set against a soft, many hued back ground. The texture that we see in many of his paintings is another technique developed by M.S. Lee. Frequently he will prime the canvas and then apply rice paper to it before painting. This allows him to achieve a sense of depth and texture while retaining the delicacy that gives his flowers a fragile life-like quality. In 1983 M.S. Lee agreed to be represented solely by Collectors Art. He moved to San Diego where he lives with his wife and three children; this lot is located and shipping from FARMINGTON, CT.
