BERKS CO., PENNSYLVANIA SILVER-PLATED PAST MASTER MASONIC JEWELS / BADGES, LOT OF TWO, comprising one for the Huguenot Lodge No. 377 in Kutztown, PA, and the other for the Isaac Hiester Lodge No. 660 in Reading, PA, each having a bar pin top with engraved "FREDERICK A. MARX" name, blue silk ribbon connects with an "F. & A.M." ruler, gavel, and trowel figural end, connected to a square jewel with an applied All Seeing Eye and a 47th Problem of Euclid pendant featuring engraved decoration, the front of the square having various Masonic symbols including a compass, a gavel, a level, and a trowel, back with personalized engravings. Huguenot Lodge example with "Willson / Reading" mark, other unmarked. Together with original folding case from Chas. G. Willson of Reading, PA. Four pieces total. Early 20th century. Each 4 1/4" HOA.
Catalogue Note: Identified as Frederick Augustus Marx, who was born on March 19, 1876 in Kutztown, Berks Co., PA. He attended Lafayette College, studied law, and became a lawyer, opening an office in Reading, PA. Frederick married Rebecca H. Fenstermacher on October 21, 1903, and they had two sons, James Frederick and John Edward. Frederick died on March 31, 1967 and is buried along with his family at Charles Evans Cemetery in Reading.
