Chinese silk Peking Stitch embroidered temple hanging, late 19th c., four separate and equal length and width vertical panels in royal blue silk attached at center and crown or surmount by plaques, full width of hanging, surmount plaque approximately 25 inches high of red silk with embroidered bow shape handle above ball shaped section in gold, silver and varied colors, central plaque is oval shaped with scalloped edges and silk embroidered design of chrysanthemums in gold, silver and varied silk threads, each vertical panel is of royal blue silk and embroidered with birds, cranes, insects and floral and foliate designs in silk threads of blue, purple, black, gold, silver red, green and white, 12 feet full length, 15 3/4" inches full width, comes with a 1986 appraisal done by Philip McMahon, PROVENANCE: Alan R.
