[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY]. A group of 80 photographs of Columbus, Ohio and Ohio State University, including:Group of 18 real photo postcards of the Columbus, Ohio flood of March 25, 1913. Scenes include rescue parties, houses knocked over at Broad & Cypress; a horse-drawn firetruck to the rescue; a broad expanse of water with a few scattered trees, and "X" by one isolated tree with "13 people taken from this tree;" Levee St. 15 minutes after the levee broke; other houses in the main path of the flood; the flood at the penitentiary; destroyed houses on Centner St.; Town St. bridge; Glenwood Ave; Rodgers Ave.; McKinley Ave; Thomas Ave.  Group of four images of the Ohio State University, 4.5 x 6.5 in. on 8 x 10 in. mounts. The images are of Mirror Lake (2), the oval (1) and the interior of the library (1).    Large format image with pencil note on verso: "1924 Basket Ball team, N. State Street School, Marion, Ohio, Miss Dombaugh, Teacher." (7.25 x 9.25 in. sight)Cdv, Wm. Oldroyd, Columbus, Ohio. Manuscript note "Ohio Idioctic [sic] Asylum Columbus, Ohio."Cdv, Wm. Oldroyd, Columbus, Ohio. "The State Institution for the Deaf and Dumb, fronts on Town Street, Columbus, O., and stands near the centre of a ten acre plat of ground." He then goes on to give the measurements of the building, as well as how much plastering flooring, number of windows, number of bricks, and total cost ($625,000).Two mounted albumen images, each 3 x 4 in. on 5 x 6 in. mounts. One is of three women standing by a sign on a rock "Columbus Franklinton Centennial. 1797   1897."On verso are beds of spring flowers (hyacinths, Easter lilies). Second one shows the same three women standing in front of a log house/cabin. On verso are three men clowning around in front of a window with bars.11 ½ pages from an album, 45 images tipped in. Each page is light cardstock with cloth and card ends having two holes where it would have been tied together at the spine. Each page is 6.75 x 11.25 in. Each photo is captioned. First page: The Campus O.S.U. Columbus Ohio; The Observatory O.S.U. Columbus Ohio; Botanical Hall O.S.U. Columbus; and The Dormitory O.S.U. Columbus. Second page: Hayes Hall O.S.U. Columbus Ohio; Scene along Prospect Road; Chemical Hall OS.U. Columbus O.; and Orton Hall O.S.U. Columbus O. Third page: Main Hall O.S.U. Columbus Ohio; The Campus O.S.U. Columbus O.; State House Columbus Ohio; and Deaf and Dumb Institution-Columbus Ohio. Half page: Horticultural Hall O.S.U. Columbus; and The Campus O.S.U. Columbus. Fourth page: Walnut Street Wharf-Cincinnati; United States Snag Boat on the Ohio River-Cincinnati; and two of Garfield Place Cincinnati. Fifth page: Fireplace of the old Conley Home-Marion; Ohio River at Cincinnati 1897; Walnut Street Bridge-Cincinnati; and Ohio River-Cincinnati Tug boat and Barge. Sixth page: Rooming Club-Edgars-Columbus, Ohio; The old Spring O.S.U.-Columbus, Ohio; The Squirrel Camp-Hepburn, Ohio; and Squirrel Camp-Hepburn, Ohio. Tree struck by lightning, Seventh page: The New Spring at O.S.U-Columbus; Old Union Depot-Columbus; Neil Avenue from Ninth Avenue looking South Columbus Ohio; and Veterinary Hall O.S.U. Columbus, Ohio. Eighth page: Soldiers Memorial Cemetery Marion Ohio; Court House Marion Ohio; and two Old Central School-Marion, Ohio. Ninth page (broken in half, but both halves present): East Center Street Marion, Ohio Old Scene; East Center Street Marion, Ohio New Scene; North Main Street, Marion, Ohio Old Scene; and North Main Street, Marion, Ohio New Scene. Tenth page: Evans Block-Marion, Ohio; "Ohio's Jewels" Monument first erected at the World's Fair now moved to Columbus, Ohio; Residence of Mrs. .John Kishler-Marion, Ohio; and Residence of E. Conley St.-Marion, Ohio. Eleventh page: Large image of New High School Building-Marion Ohio; A Picnic Party-Marion, O.; and Kings Mils-South of Marion on the Whetstone River.Boudoir card, by Baker's Art Gallery, Columbus, Ohio. On verso a very light penciled note that looks like "Gideon Home."Boudoir card, stamped on verso "A. Clarke Smith... Columbus, Ohio." Light pencil note: "Dr. Gilham operating. Prof. St. Francis." Image of five people plus a surgeon crowded around a person on a gurney. Two of the observers are nuns.Four 8 x 10 in. mounts, preprinted on verso with "Department of Architecture / Ohio State University." There are common faults listed that a professor could then simply check or circle. The four buildings are not identified, but at least a couple appear to be on O.S.U.'s campus.Photograph of Teutonia Insurance Co. building. On verso it is identified as Dayton, Ohio, received into Teutonia's files in 1891.   (6.75 c 8.75 in., very brown, some adhesive on lower margin)
