This lot features an original Lee, Riders John Scher Presents Crew Denim Jacket produced for the 9 night concert run at Madison Square Garden by The Grateful Dead in September 1988. This jacket features an embroidered King Kong tie-dyed design on the left breast - the motif for the shows which appeared on the posters and also on the MSG marquee itself that week as an inflatable ape.

The Dead performed on the 14th thru 16th, 18th thru 20th, 22nd thru 24th. The September 24th show was a benefit for the rainforests with proceeds donated to Greenpeace, Cultural Survival and the Rainforest Action Network. Special guests included Mick Taylor, Daryl Hall, John Oats, Jack Casady, Suzanne Vega and Tom T-Bone Wolk.
