Description
Posters from the 1968 Experience tour are among the most coveted pieces of Rock memorabilia available anywhere. This reprint poster is for a Jimi Hendrix Experience Concert in Baton Rouge Louisiana.
After Hendrix played in Switzerland, he came back to the States and took a month off before his next US tour. During his time off, he would often go to his peers' shows and often sit in with them. In June of 1968, he jammed with Electric Flag (Buddy Miles), Jeff Beck, and Larry Coryell. When it was time to tour, his first show was this July 30th stop at the Independent Hall/Lakeshore Auditorium in Baton Rouge. Playing two shows that night with Soft Machine, it was the start of a tour that would last until December, with Hendrix playing almost every night.
The Original First Printing poster for this show was printed on white paper and fetches 5 figure amounts if one ever shows up. The proofs were on this tan-colored heavy vellum stock, and several of them have an embossed artist seal. This copy is printed on cardboard and has unique coloring, pink background and yellow lettering, which is not true for other versions. In March 2015, a different reprint of this poster reached $558 in our auction.
