Outstanding Abraham Lincoln Portrait "PROCLAMATION of EMANCIPATION" Printer's Die Sunk on Card The First Seen Seen
1864-Dated Civil War Period. "PROCLAMATION of EMANCIPATION" with Oval President Abraham Lincoln Portrait at top center, Printer's Die Sunk Proof Impression on Card, Choice Crisp Mint.
An original Printer's Die-Sunk Proof printing in black of the famous Lincoln miniature of the Emancipation Proclamation, engraved by A. Kidder, 602 Broadway, New York. Published by
A. Kidder, New York and Illinois, April 28, 1864. The deeply embossed Proof impression outer Plate outline measures 3.25" wide x 4.25" tall, on a 5.5" wide x 6.5" tall heavy wove card. The tiny printed text seen under magnification at bottom, having a decorative double outer border design. Extremely rare as it is the first of this format seen, extremely clean and well printed having what appears to be a faint thumb print from handling when made at the outer lower right margin, attesting to its originality. A wonderful decorative die-sunk Proof on card with the text engraved and facsimile signature "A Lincoln" at its conclusion.
