GERMAN PAPER MACHE LADY WITH RARE COIFFURE AND FINE ORIGINAL GOWN. 15”. Paper mache shoulderhead with heart-shaped face, sculpted and painted brown hair is drawn high at the back into well-defined braided coronet and further accented at the front sides by rolled curls of brown human hair, painted features, blue eyes, upper eyeliner tapered brows, tiny closed mouth, slender kid body with carved wooden lower limbs, painted flat tan shoes, original petite point over pink cotton fitted gown, cotton petticoat and pantalets. Commentary: All-original early model retains beautiful complexion and fine costume, overall excellent condition, circa 1830’s (from Cynthia Musser collection).
