Extraordinary Rare, Chinese Yuan Dynasty Period, Blue & white dragon motif porcelain meiping jar. The finest porcelain shaped into a traditional Meiping form, large, thick and tall potted, wide body on shoulder, slender neck easing to form narrow opening, with emerging slight flaring ring mouth rim, raised on round foot base, with slight concave. All reserved hand painted ornamentations are rendered in clean white under glazed base color which contrast against the cobalt blue fine color. Blue and white porcelain in Chinese it is called Qing Hua Ci. It is the most important variety of China’s porcelain. It was originated in the Yuan Dynasty. Adorned the main belly of snarling huge imperial five claws dragon careening through cumulus clouds above thrashing Li-shui waves in a vivid tones color dragon squama to chasing flaming pearl amidst flames and vapors. Ruyi shaped large pendants filled by scrolling clouds, interspersed by floral and fruiting banquets on the shoulder and geometric pattern with ornament decorated on the foot rim. Each section mark off and enclosed with double fine blue rings lines. Dragon is the symbol of the Emperor, the Son of Heaven, eternity, Yang and Yin, male vigor and fecundity, the Li-shui wave pattern which is known to be the abode of dragons. The porcelain conformed all required specimen to be high valued Chinese porcelain wares, with finest material, the whiteness, and the glaze. Without overlap the outlines of the design, clear, subtle, distinct, and the shape is uniformly proportioned. The underside unglazed, revealed the pale-creme ground and dark grayish brown spotted firing marks with edge-cut foot rim.
