Description
This lot consists of an oil painting on canvas, done in the sensuous Art Nouveau style of Gustav Klimt (Austrian, 1862-1918) and framed under glass. Inscription at lower right reads, "Gustav Klimt". Image depicts a woman with blushing cheeks, flowers woven throughout her hair and the surrounding space. Bold, beautiful and artfully executed in the Art Nouveau style for which Klimt is so revered. This modern art masterpiece would be a highlight in any fine art collection. Framed dimensions approximately 24.75" x 28.5".
Reverse side features a wax seal and affixed paper labels.
Gustav Klimt (1862-1918) was an Austrian symbolist painter and one of the most prominent members of the Vienna Secession movement. Klimt is noted for his art nouveau paintings, murals, sketches, and other objets d'art. Klimt's primary subject was the female body, and his works are marked by a frank eroticism. In addition to his figurative works, which include allegories and portraits, he also painted landscapes. Among the artists of the Vienna Secession, Klimt was most influenced by Japanese art and its elegant methods.
