Ancient Egyptian Bronze Oxyrhincus ca. 730-30 B.C.. Size 4-1/2 inches Length. Cast bronze Nile perch fish, wearing the royal horned sun disc crown and flanked by two Uraei cobras at his gills and another in front of the sun disc. Raised fin on his back and nicely detailed body scales. Integral slab base with a tang on the underside. Red-brown oxide ground with scattered blue-green surface patina. Intact, overall exc. cond. Provenance: Ex. Edward H. Merrin, personal collection, 1968-69.
