A rare printing of the follow-up to Captain James Riley’s account of the shipwreck of the American ship Commerce. In 1815, James Riley survived a disastrous shipwreck and was enslaved by Arabs in Morocco. Two years later, Riley published the first iteration of his ‘Narrative’, a retelling of his experiences at sea and in North Africa. The ‘Sequel’ describes his continued trading with North African merchants and his experiences after his enslavement. It also describes Algiers, Gibraltar, Morocco, and Tangiers.
