Sandy Koufax finally tamed his blazing fastball, he enjoyed a five-year stretch as perhaps the most dominating pitcher in the game's history. He was named the National League's Most Valuable Player in 1963. He also won the 1963, 1965, and 1966 Cy Young Awards by unanimous votes, making him the first 3-time Cy Young winner in baseball history and the only one to win 3 times when the award was for all of baseball, not just one league. In each of his Cy Young seasons, Koufax won the pitcher's triple crown by leading the NL in wins, strikeouts, and earned run average. He won 25 games three times, captured five straight ERA titles and set a new standard with 382 strikeouts in 1965. Koufax was the first major leaguer to pitch four no-hitters (including the eighth perfect game in baseball history). Despite his comparatively short career, Koufax's 2,396 career strikeouts ranked 7th in history as of his retirement, trailing only Warren Spahn among left-handers. He posted a 0.95 ERA in four career World Series, leading the Dodgers to three championships. He was also the first pitcher inducted into the Hall of Fame who had more strikeouts than innings pitched. A graceful center fielder with a picture-perfect swing, Duke Snider was the biggest bat in the Brooklyn Dodgers' potent lineup of the 1950s. He hit 40 or more homers five consecutive times and led all batters in home runs and RBIs during the '50s. The Duke of Flatbush hit four homers in two different World Series (1952 and '55), clouting a total of 11 Series home runs and 26 Series RBIs. Snider occasionally took acting roles, sometimes appearing in television or films as himself or as a professional baseball player. He played himself in "Hero Father" (1956) in the Robert Young television series "Father Knows Best" and made one guest appearance on the Chuck Connors television series "The Rifleman", playing Wallace in "The Retired Gun" (1959). Other appearances include an uncredited part as a Los Angeles Dodgers center fielder in "The Geisha Boy" (1958), the Cranker in "The Trouble with Girls" (1969), and a Steamer Fan in "Pastime" (1990). As recently as 2007, he was featured in "Brooklyn Dodgers: The Ghosts of Flatbush."
