**First Time At Auction**
Eastern Europe, Russia, St. Petersburg, ca. 1891 CE. Maker's mark of Pavel Ovchinnikov on stems of both. A wonderful pair of silver and cloisonne spoons decorated with enamel in hues of crimson, purple, sky blue, cobalt, emerald, and white. Each of the fine utensils displays a tear drop-shaped bowl and a tubular stem that widens to a decorative handle with a twisted design and abstract enamel motif, all terminating in a tiara-form finial at the tip. The verso of each bowl displays the coat of arms of St. Petersburg. Size (both the same): 7.75" L x 2.125" W (19.7 cm x 5.4 cm); Silver quality: 92.18%; Weight (together): 147.6 grams
Provenance: ex-collection of James Farmer, Maryland, acquired from major galleries and auction houses between 1995 and 2005

Condition
Each display 4 marks on side of stem: Cyrillic maker's mark of workshop of Pavel Ovchinnikov, "1891," "84," and imperial warrant. Both intact and excellent with nice patina.
