Description
**Originally Listed At $350**
Western Europe, Spain or Italy, 16th to 18th century CE. A fantastic blade from a short sword or lengthy dagger! The blade is slender with a pointed tip and a deep fuller that tapers from the tang halfway down the blade. Within the fuller are inscribed words in Latin (indiscernible) which are the same on both sides. Interestingly, two cross motifs follow the words, and a mark is stamped on the blade just above the fuller tip. This blade would have been ideal for thrusting and stabbing. A guard and a grip of wood or another material would have covered the tang to transform this blade into a fully handsome weapon. Size: 17.75" L x .75" W (45.1 cm x 1.9 cm)
Provenance: ex-estate of Eldert Bontekoe, Pegasi Numismatics, Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA acquired before 2000; ex-Andy Garcia collection
All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.
A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids.
