Description
Native American, United States, Archaic Period, ca. 9000 to 1000 BCE (11000 to 3000 BP). A diverse collection of 38 petite hand-knapped projectile points and tools made from chert, obsidian, and other stones. Most appear to be full formed, many with necks, notches, and fins. A few might be pre-formed- but have clearly been worked at one time. Some of the points identified in this collection include: Hell Gap, Green River, Oxbow, Silver Lake, Pelona, Cortaro, Chiricahua, Cienega, Humboldt, Desert Delta, Pinto Basin, San Jose, Soto, McKean, Glendo, Hanna, Rose Springs, Mt. Albion, Cottonwood, Avonlea Timber Ridge, and Gypsum Cave. These points are from across the United States; however, most are from the southwestern Four Corners region. Size of case: 12" L x 1" W x 7.8" H (30.5 cm x 2.5 cm x 19.8 cm); largest point: 2" L x .75" W (5.1 cm x 1.9 cm)

Losses to tips of blade and fins on several points. Nicks and chips to other points as expected with age and use. Mounted on foam within a modern glass and wood case. Stable pressure fissures in the wood.
