Description
Native American, Southeast or Midwest, Mississippian, ca. 900 to 1543 CE. An impressive pottery effigy vessel with a globular body and an attenuated, hooded spout. The fascinating spout presents with stylized, anthropomorphic features, such as coiled ears with annular perforations for suspending ornaments, a flat-topped headdress with a lengthy embellishment that hangs to the verso terminating in a pair of round adornments, and a circular, rolled rim in place of a face. A lateral drill hole pierces the top of the headdress for suspension. Size: 4.8" Diameter x 6.6" H (12.2 cm x 16.8 cm)
