DESCO Browne 4 Light Commercial Diving Helmet

Description

It is very seldom when we have the opportunity to offer a classic diving helmet made relatively recently. For your consideration is an extremely nice Diving Equipment & Supply Company (DESCO) Browne Commercial model diving helmet. Specifically referred to as the model 29400, this is a 4 light 12 bolt (4 windows and twelve studs on the breastplate) helmet. This model is very similar to one that was made by Yokohama in Japan.

This specific helmet was made on March 1st, 2006. It is serial number 452, which is present on the ID plate and inside of both bonnet and breastplate neck rings. These matching numbers offer proof the top and bottom started off together from the DESCO Milwaukee, WI facility. The helmet was special ordered by a diver in 2006. The winning bidder will receive a COA from Nations Attic with the original owners name on it.

This helmet features an adjustable exhaust valve, telephone cup, air diffuser cup, breastplate eyelets, spring safety lock, telephone fitting, four brails, twelve wing nuts, all the original windows, internal air tube, modern communication wire and plug, neck ring gasket. The helmet is configured just the way it left the Milwaukee factory.

The helmet retains its original appearance. The factory applied tinning is in good condition with wear associated with use distributed evenly. The helmet was obviously well taken care with no notable dents or damage visible. The helmet already has a look and feel of one that could be 60 years old. With a proper inspection from DESCO this helmet could even be put back to use if so desired!

All diving helmets in this auction will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Nations Attic. The certificate will have a unique number that will match the number on a tamperproof hologram decal placed inside the helmet. This information will be kept on permanent file at Nations Attic and help ensure the provenance of the helmet and authenticity. The display stand shown in the photos is not included. The option to purchase one after the auction will be provided.
