PENNSYLVANIA FOLK ART CUT-WORK / SCHERENSCHNITTE VALENTINE, center featuring a hollow-cut silhouette of a girl or young woman applied to white paper with a hand-drawn floral border, written below "To Polly Manning / - Feb - 14th 1849 - / From Henry Tyson Jr.", inner white paper layer with cut-work spread-wing eagles along the sides and an arrow-through-heart at each corner, outer pink paper layer with diamond-motif cut-work edges, likely laid on white paper. Housed under glass in a period gilt-molded frame. Possibly Berks Co., PA. Dated 1849. 8 7/8" x 10 3/4" sight, 12 1/2" x 14 1/2" OA.
Very good overall visual condition with light to moderate toning and spotting to paper, some creases. Frame with wear/minor losses. Not examined out of frame.
