AMERICAN FOLK ART PAINTED WOODEN TRADE SIGNS, LOT OF TWO, each of single-sided form, the longer example of oak with gilt stenciled lettering on a dark brown ground, the smaller example for Alfred, Gardner & Co., discovered in Maine, with gilt stenciled lettering against a black schmaltz ground, signed "INFIORATI" lower right. Late 19th/first quarter 20th century. Longer example 5 1/4" H, 48 1/4" L.
Each in very good overall condition with minor to moderate wear and discoloration.
Provenance: The collection of the late Theodore "Ted" and Alvina Breckel, Oley, PA and Winnetka, IL.
Longer example: Sign of the Windsor Chair, Great Lakes Show, Dearborn, MI, 11/19/1989.
Schmaltz example: York (PA) Show, 11/5/1999.
Each in very good overall condition with minor to moderate wear and discoloration.
