Description
Cased Colt Model 1849 Revolver Presented To John L. Miller, Serial No. 67096 (c.1853). Pistol is .31 Caliber with blued octagonal 6 in. rifled barrel, 5 shot engraved cylinder with stage coach hold-up scene and hand engraved Colt’s/Patent; casehardened frame, hammer and loading lever with silver plated back-strap and trigger-guard, original one-piece smooth walnut grip. Barrel address reads – Address Sam’ Colt/New York City - and stamped on left side of frame is Colts/Patent. Matching numbers on all pieces - 67096 - accept loading lever which reads 7086. Engraved back-strap reads J.L. Miller 12th Regt. – From His Friends. Barrel is rifled and in very good to excellent condition, the bluing on the barrel has light surface scratching but no tarnish, pitting or oxidation, silver on strap and trigger guard have some minor wear spots; springs are good, gun times well and locks up nicely. Walnut case complete with bullet mold, small brass eagle flask, key, nipple wrench, extra nipples and cap box. Accompanied by 80 pages of documentation from the Confederate 12th South Carolina Infantry Regiment, containing information on Col. John L. Miller, including musters, receipts, requisitions, vouchers and other documents through his final register “Died of Wounds, May 6, 1864”.
