" Also with two books: A Sentimental Journey Through France and Italy with Virginia True bookplate, and Constructive Anatomy with her ownership marks. Virginia True was born in 1900 in St. Louis, Missouri. She attended the John Herron Art Institute and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. Her watercolors are done in the style of Modernist artists and the plein air tradition. While living in Colorado she won several awards including Honorable Mention at the 1932-33 Annual Colorado Artists Exhibition and First Prize at the 1935 Midwest Art Exhibition. She also served as an instructor at the University of Colorado and later a faculty member at Cornell University. She also exhibited at the Museum of Fine Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She lived the remainder of her life on Cape Cod and passed away in 1989. MEASUREMENTS: Portrait image 11-1/2 " high x 8-1/2 " wide; overall 14-1/2 " high x 11-1/2 " wide.
