Trimurti. Yab-yum. India 18th-19th centuries.Polychrome bronze and fine gold.Measurements: 41 x 29 x 10 cm.Sculpture of the Hindu trimurti in bronze patinated in fine gold, dating from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. The triple face represents the three most important gods of Hindu mythology: Brahma, the four-headed god who creates the universe. Vishnu, the four-armed god, and the one who preserves the universe Shiva, the savage god who destroys the universe at the end of the world. These gods represent respectively the cycles of creation, preservation and destruction of the universe. The two bodies represented represent Shiva with proliferation of arms and attributes with his consort, in Yab-yum or sexual union with his consort. The group, bordered by a flaming lobular structure, rests on a lotus flower-shaped pedestal.
