Description
Ninth plate tintype of a Union soldier in full uniform and kepi. N.p.: n.p., [1860s]. (Tintype has developed some light “alligatoring” (lines) over time, contrast and detail are very good.) Housed in a full pressed paper case (wear to interior pad). The soldier, whose uniform and kepi buttons are tinted gold, appears to have suffered a left eye injury.
Ninth plate tintype of a Federal soldier wearing a shell jacket with buttons gilded by the artist. N.p.: n.p., [1860s]. (Image shows some aging but nice contrast and detail.) Under patriotic mat with motto, “The Union Now and Forever,” complete with flags, cannon, and drum (small spot just below caption). Housed in full pressed paper case (surface wear, reinforcement at hinge, some splitting between back cover and edges of case).
Sixth plate tintype of a young Union soldier in full uniform with hat, his numerous buttons and watch chain highlighted in gold. N.p.: n.p., [1860s]. (Very good detail and contrast, few minor creases in plate.) Housed in full patriotic thermoplastic case, Union and Constitution [Berg 1-51] (weak bottom hinge and small chip near latch).
