Ancient Central Asia, Bactria-Margiana (BMAC), ca. 2nd millennium BCE. A hand-carved stone stamp seal of a discoid form with different designs on each stamp face. The first side features a large flower with eight drop-form petals surrounding a central hemispherical bulb, and the second side showcases an abstract standing figure who brandishes a large weapon in each hand. Three pairs of perforated suspension holes are situated along the exterior periphery. Stamps like this example were used to form a seal after being dipped in wax. Custom putty impressions included. Size: 1.875" Diameter (4.8 cm); 2.9" H (7.4 cm) on included custom stand.
Provenance: private Zaveloff collection, Lakewood, New Jersey, USA, acquired from Venus Gallery, Israel, in 2002

Condition
Minor nicks to peripheries and both stamp faces, otherwise intact and very good. Nice remains of incised details on each stamp face and smooth surface textures throughout.
