**First Time At Auction**
Pre-Columbian, Southern Colombia to Northern Ecuador, Carchi-Narino Highlands, Narino culture, ca. 500 to 1000 CE. A fine set of three mold-formed whistles in elegant conch shell forms. The smallest beige-hued shell has a pierced suspension hole and a small tone hole centered on the upper coil. The medium-sized shell has several horizontal striations coursing across the exterior. The largest shell has an age-darkened bi-chrome color scheme as well as a tone hole bored into the side of the upper coil. Size of largest (bi-chrome): 3.4" W x 4.375" H (8.6 cm x 11.1 cm).
Provenance: private California, USA collection, acquired in 2004; ex-private Gill family collection, Pebble Beach, California, USA, acquired in 1980; ex-Colonel William R. Cameron (Ret.) collection, California, USA, acquired in 1965 to 1968

Condition
Small loss to upper coil of medium-sized whistle. All items have abrasions to exterior surfaces, light fading to original coloration, and light encrustations within. Smallest and largest whistles are intact. Light earthen deposits throughout. Whistles do not make sound when played.
