Description
A Chinese blue and white glazed jar with iron red paint details dating from the Zhengde period of Ming dynasty. The mouth and foot have blue lotus tracery bands, and there is a large central band of red lotus tracery with a band of ruyi around the shoulder.
Dimensions are: 11 inches tall X 12 inches wide, 27.9 cm X 30.5 cm. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: There is a firing imperfection to the center of the body. Multiple firing cracks are present on the bottom visible from the interior and exterior of the jar. General age wear throughout.
Provenance: From a private Buffalo, New York collection. Similar examples have been sold at Christie's New York on June 26, 2019, as lot 20 and at Sotheby's London on June 15, 2020, as lot 5.
