Description
Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 3rd century CE. A fine pottery dish that was formed on a wheel with a flat base exhibiting a slight bullseye motif. The squat vessel features a shallow basin surrounded by a flared rim with a wheel-cut striation around the interior lip. A band of dark-red pigment stretches across the center of the basin and was perhaps created by exposing this area during the firing process. Size: 7" Diameter (17.8 cm); 7" H (17.8 cm) on included custom stand.
Provenance: private Vero Beach, Florida, USA collection, acquired in 1965
