March 31, 1858-Dated, Delaware State Lottery Broadside, Choice Crisp Extremely Fine.
To get the public excited, the Delaware State Lottery at Wilmington, DE issued this 15.25" x 5" broadside with a list of prices in the upcoming "Eldorado Scheme" Lottery to be held on March 31, 1858. The top prize was $16,500, which was an enormous amount of money at the time (akin to millions of dollars in the lotteries of today). In total, 22,641 prizes amounting to $77,380 were offered. The price per ticket was $1, but fractional tickets were available for a discount in quantities. Nice for display, boldly printed on bright white wove paper.
