His presidency and polling was not well regarded but interestingly modern historians have revisited his time in office quite favorably. Offered is a collection of 13 signed pieces by President Truman, First Lady Bess Truman and daughter Margaret Truman.
1. Three (3) B&W 8 x 10" photo, one inscribed, signed and dated 8/13/45, a superior piece. The other inscibed photo is signed with a fine ballpoint pen that unfortunately against the dark suit and gray back ground the words are barely visible, but angled to the light it is clearly apparent Mr. Truman was pressing hard to improve the boldness. Third signed B&W photo is a photo 5 x 3½" inscribed and signed boldly in white border of photo with minor evidence of handling. The fourth is an excellent 8 x 11 color photo lifted from a magazine, Truman looking quite dapper, the city traffic roaring behind him. with a small head shot of Bess Truman affixed to lower right. Harry Truman inscribes and signs "Best Wishes from Harry S. and Bess W. Truman, Independence, MO. Feb. 19, 1962", with photo mounted to board. Terrific piece.
2.) Bess Truman includes an ALS written on The Carlyle Hotel stationery, n.d., thanking a Mr. Smith for a bottle of perfume and signing "Bess Wallace Truman" a signed 5 x 7" photo, a 5 x 7 card, and three large blocks of commemorative stamps, two of her husband.
