WWI US ARMY MEXICAN BORDER NAMED SERVICE GROUPING
WWI US Army 101st Infantry Regiment Named Service Grouping. Named to "Captain George Trimble Smith", originally from Cleveland, Ohio. Smith was a WWI veteran who served in the 331st & 101st Infantry Regiment. He was part of the Mexican Border Patrol in 1916 - 1917. Documents include: Four total modern printed & photocopied documents which include a photocopy of a page of a roster that mentions Smith by name. Copies of a Passenger list that mentions him as well as his registration cards. Uniform & Gear include: (1) Dark khaki tunic with theater made shoulder sleeve patch, US National Army and 331st Collar insignia, ribbon bars. Rank insignia pins on the shoulder boards. Single service chevron to cuff. Inside pocket tag of tunic is marked with Smith's full name and the date 1917. (1) Smith's identification "dog" tag is tied to the tunic. (1) Brown Leather belt rig. (1) Canvas pistol magazine pouch by MILLS. Dated 1918. (2) Waxed paper rolls. (1) Khaki drawstring bag.
