Description
This is a striking original oil painting by noted American West artist Lyle Tayson, Sr. (1924-2014). Tayson attended the Art Institute of Chicago before serving as a U.S. Merchant Marine during World War II. He served again as a U.S. Army Sergeant during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge, he took a position as a commercial artist in Chicago. He retired in 1975 and moved out west to settle his family in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Using the landscape and culture as his inspiration, Tayson often depicted American Indians in his work. This original painting, titled "Fleshing a Hide" features a woman working a skin. It is signed "L.T". on the lower left corner. It is framed under glass. - The frame is 23 x 20 1/2" with a sight view of 19 3/4 x 17 1/4". The painted area is 14 x 10 1/2".
Condition
In overall very good condition consistent with age. Minor wear to the corners and edges of the frame.
